Judge Awards $18.5 Million to Injured Victim
On February 17th, a Clear Creek County District Court judge entered judgment in Savage v. Ruszkowski et al. Paul Savage, an Idaho Springs man, was awarded $18.5 million for catastrophic injuries he suffered when a drunk driver left a mountain road and slammed into him as he was laying in his own driveway, changing the oil in his wife's car. The trial was widely covered in the general and legal press. A pending federal case will resolve insurance coverage issues. 11. 03. 09

A Denver jury awarded $240,418.23 to Ms. Carol Wilson, who slipped and fell in her hotel bathtub at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Denver, formerly the Adams Mark, resulting in a thoracic vertebrae fracture.The Denver jury’s verdict included $100,000.00 in punitive damages, finding the Sheraton acted willfully and wantonly, with reckless disregard to the safety of others.
